- Apply to become member of Volt România
As Volt România officially became a political party, people can now apply to become a member there.
Becoming a member includes several steps and rules. Some of them are actually mentioned in the Romanian law for political parties, some are set up by ourselves.
Besides the ones already existing, we are working on detailed rules for application to Volt România
Basically, to become a member of Volt România, the first step is to become a member of Volt Europa.
Why?
As we are a pan-european movement and party, all of the members of Volt România also must be members of Volt Europa. Otherwise we will not be able to reach our goal of being pan-european. All parts of Volt influence each other vice versa, so our members must be included also in the processes of Volt Europa.
Besides that, we do have a very high threshold for exclusion of members from the party. A majority of ⅔ in the General Assembly are needed to confirm the exclusion of a member!
As you may know, in other parties usually the National Executive Birou decides upon the exclusion of a member, often leading to an abuse of this type of sanction in order to get rid of concurrence or unwanted critics.
But, we have to be realistic, it also can happen that people are intending to join a party that are not really fitting to it and maybe also can do harm to the organization.
Therefore we have developed a process, which gives us time to get known to an applicant, before accepting the person within our party.
If you haven't had the chance to become a member yet or you don't know how to apply, then we're here to come to your aid! (っ ͡~ ω ͡°)っ

- Stop Global Warming initiative
Volt Europe supports a new european citizens' initiative (ECI) called "Stop Global Warming!". This initiative builds on the adoption of a CO2 tax to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to combat climate change. The fee would start from EUR 50 per tonne of CO2 by 2020 to EUR 100 by 2025. At the same time, the proposal eliminates the existing system of free allowances for EU polluters and introduces a border adjustment mechanism for non-EU imports to offset lower CO2 prices in the exporting country. If you want to support this initiative then access the link and sign it. Every signature is important!
Of course, we will keep you up to date with what is happening through this newsletter, but also on our social media accounts Facebook, Instagram and Twitter!
With best wishes, stay healthy!
